Rotherham Hospital Library
Welcome to our service point at Rotherham Hospital.
The Library at Rotherham Hospital can be found on Level D, Junction 1.
The library is open from 8.30am to 5.00pm on Monday to Fridays. Library staff are available between those times to provide support, advice, information skills training, expert searching and query answering services. We also offer 24/7 acesss to Trust employees and students.
**24 hour access to the library**
TRFT staff and students can get 24 hour access to the library and its facilities (PCs, printers, the silent study room and our new self-issue machine) by simply swiping your Trust ID card.
If you already have a chip in your badge and use it to access other areas within the hospital, access rights to the Library will be automatically added. If you are unsure whether your badge has a chip please check with the ID badge team in Estates and Facilities.
Once you've got your fob you'll then be able to swipe into the library 24/7 and borrow books using the self-issue machine. Please contact us for further details.
Outside staffed hours, you can also return books in the blue book box at junction 1 on level D.
Loan collection
We have over 12,000 books and reports on all aspects of healthcare. These can be borrowed for three weeks (standard loan) or one week (normal loan). Some books are for reference only and remain in the library. To find out if an item is in our stock search our online catalogue. If you can’t find what you need in our library we can request books, reports and articles for you from other libraries through our interlibrary loans service.
Print Journals
We have approximately 80 current journals titles and back-runs of journals, some up to 15 years. Most journals are reference only but a photocopier is available in the library. A large collection of national and local electronic journals is also available to NHS staff.
IT Facilities
Approximately 20 PCs are available throughout the Library, with access to the internet and Microsoft Office software as well as the statistical SPSS package. Black & white and colour printing is available as well as access to a scanner.

Self-service copying is available, charges may apply – please ask staff for details.
