Rotherham Hospital Library
Welcome to the Library at Rotherham Hospital.
The Library can be found on Level D, Junction 1. We offer books, journals, PCs, study space, meeting rooms and pods, self-issue facilities, comfy seating, a water fountain, and an outside space where you can read, relax and get some fresh air. The library is open from 8.30am to 5.00pm on Monday to Fridays. Library staff are available between those times to provide support, advice, information skills training, expert searching and query answering services. We also offer 24/7 access to Trust employees and students. Outside staffed hours books can be borrowed 24/7 using the self-issue machine, and returned in the blue book box at junction 1 on level D. |
**24 hour access to the library**
TRFT staff and students can get 24 hour access to the library and its facilities (including by simply swiping your Trust ID card. Access rights to the Library should have been automatically added to your ID badge but if you are unsure or experience any problems please check with the ID badge team in Estates and Facilities.
Loan collection: books and reports
We have over 12,000 books and reports on all aspects of healthcare. These can be borrowed for three weeks (standard loan) or one week (normal loan). Some books are for reference only and remain in the library. To find out if an item is in our stock search our online catalogue. If you can’t find what you need in our library we can request books, reports and articles for you from other libraries through our interlibrary loans service.

We have approximately 20 current print journals titles and many more back-runs of journals. Most journals are reference only but a photocopier is available in the library. NHS staff ad students can also access 7000 national and local electronic journals.

In addition to our medical textbooks and journals, we have Reminiscence Resources to support patients with dementia and their carers; Health Promotion Resources which can be borrowed from the Hospital Library by arrangement; a Health and Well-Being Collection: self-help books on a wide range of medical conditions; a large fiction collection which can be borrowed by staff and patients; Training Games for staff, IT equipment, and a set of books to support Equality, Diversity & Inclusion. Our online collections (ebooks, eJournals, DynaMed, BMJ Best Practice, bibliographic databases and more) can be accessed via the website.
