  • To borrow books, you need to join your library service
  • You can use the library catalogue to search all of the books and most of the ebooks across the libraries in the Yorkshire Region
  • If you have a found a book your want to borrow simply call into the Library - access is available via your NHS card 24 hours a day - we also offer self service facilities for you to check the book out or return items.

OpenAthens is a secure log in system that gives you access to electronic resources including books, journals, databases and apps. Your OpenAthens account is a vital tool to enable evidence based practice in the NHS.  All NHS staff are eligible to register for an NHS OpenAthens account.  ​

Oxford Medicine Online - Oxford Handbooks & Textbooks

Kortext is one of the suppliers we use to purchase e-books, and their e-books can be accessed online, or downloaded into the Kortext app for offline reading on mobile devices. Kortext e-books require an NHS OpenAthens account initially, but once logged in a personal account can be created and this will allow you to access the mobile app.  Click on the link above.  The collection covers key clinical topics, nursing, primary care and general practice, palliative care, health management, as well as mentoring and coaching titles.
To login:
  • Go to: https://read.kortext.com
  • Select 'Sign in to browse your institution library'; search for Rotherham in the drop-down list; then chose your organisation/group and login with your OpenAthens username and password.

Our Proquest Ebook Central Collection of over 30,000 titles is available to employees of The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, including students and doctors on placement. 
To login:
  • go to: ProQuest Ebook Central and login with your OpenAthens username and password (get an OpenAthens password)
  • ​eBooks with a green button can be read in full straight-away.
  • eBooks with an orange button can be browsed for five minutes and then requested with a few simple clicks. 

Explore our ebooks: you can read them online, download them to your own device, keyword search the whole book, add your own notes, check books in and out 24/7, print chapters and listen to the text aloud.  Read our detailed user guide. ​​

We provide access to 130 Oxford handbooks and textbooks from the Oxford Medicine Online collection, available to all NHS employees at TRFT. Please read the login instructions below. ​
To login:
  • Go to: https://oxfordmedicine.com or the dedicated homepage for NHS staff and students at: https://pages.oup.com/hee or scan the QR code opposite.
  • Select 'Login via your institution' then select 'NHS in England' (even if you are employed by RFT)
Then login with your usual Athens account details. You can re-set your Athens account online, or contact us for help. ​ Read more about Athens or scan the QR below to sign up.
