To get started with ebooks you can either:
  • ​search our online catalogue for a specific book or subject area and follow the link to the ebook
  • OR browse/search our ebook collections below: scroll down to sign in to Oxford, Proquest and Kortext.  On Proquest, in addition to viewing books we already own, you can also preview books we don't yet own and request full access to them.

December 2020: 135 new ebooks from Kortext
We've boosted access to ebooks to keep you in touch with the latest evidence whilst print stock is subject to quarantine and many Trust staff are working from home. This month we've added 135 new medical textbooks via the Kortext platform. Select a collection below to start reading or to find out more.​

December 2020:135 new medical titles now available via Kortext

Medical, health and management eBooks from Kortext are now available to NHS OpenAthens users (How to get an OpenAthens password). The collection covers key clinical topics, nursing, primary care and general practice, palliative care, health management, as well as mentoring and coaching titles.

Using the content is simple.
  • Go to: https://read.kortext.com
  • Select 'Sign in to browse your institution library'; search for Rotherham in the drop-down list; then chose your organisation/group and login with your OpenAthens username and password.

  • Click on 'Collections' to view the 135 available titles. 
  • Find a title that you would like to read and click on the cover to start reading. 
  • Click on the three dots to sign out.

Our Proquest Ebook Central Collection of over 30,000 titles is available to employees and contractors of The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, including local GPs, practice staff, commissioners, students and colleagues working in public health and social care. ​
To login:
  • go to: http://www.trft.eblib.com/patron and login with your OpenAthens username and password (get an OpenAthens password)
  • ​eBooks with a green button can be read in full straight-away.
  • eBooks with an orange button can be browsed for five minutes and then requested with a few simple clicks. 

Explore our ebooks: you can read them online, download them to your own device, keyword search the whole book, add your own notes, check books in and out 24/7, print chapters and listen to the text aloud.  Read our detailed user guide. ​

We’re adding new single full-text titles to the Ebook Central collection all the time as well as sets of ebooks to support off-site staff and to improve access to in-demand titles. So far we’ve added ebooks on nurse prescribing, general practice and revision and exam guides for doctors in training (NB these books are available to any member of staff). Contact us to suggest an ebook or a set of ebooks for your team or work area.

We provide access to 130 Oxford handbooks and textbooks from the Oxford Medicine Online collection, available to all NHS employees in Yorkshire & the Humber (hospital trusts, CCGs and GPs/practice staff). Please read the login instructions below. Browse a full list of the titles included in our standard subscription.

  • Select 'Login via your institution' then select 'NHS in England' (even if you are employed by RFT/Rotherham CCG and have a Rotherham FT or CCG Athens account)
