Who we are and what we do

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) Library & Knowledge Service provides library and information services for all staff and students working in The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, the Rotherham CCG and independent contractors (GPs, pharmacists, dentists and opticians), Rotherham Public Health, Rotherham Hospice, NHS England staff who are based at Oak House (Bramley), the Clinical Effectiveness Team at NHS England, social services staff involved in patient care and clinical students on placement within the organisations we serve. ​

Our services:

Our aim is to deliver high quality information to support patient care, commissioning, policy-making, public health, learning and development and research.  We provide the following services to help you access the evidence-base:

  • Enquiry and Literature Search Service
    We offer a specialised enquiry and literature search service accessible by phone, email, fax or in person. Simply contact us 
    with details of the information you need and we can do the searching for you.  We also offer a Clinical Question & Answer Service, providing summaries of the best available evidence to answer your questions, and Knowledge Clinics in departments or practices.  Request an evidence search

  • Information Skills Training
    A range of information skills workshops are available through our rolling programme, or to individuals or small groups in their workplace.  Read about information skills training

  • Library Resources
    Our continually developing collection covers all aspects of health from acute care to primary care, mental health, public health, health management and research.  In our three libraries across Rotherham we hold over 17,000 books, journals, health education resources and items of IT equipment,  all available for loan and searchable on our online catalogue.  Free access to ejournals, ebooks, biomedical databases and an interlibrary loan service is also availabe to NHS staff.  Find out more about our resources

  • Keeping Up To Date: Current Awareness
    We provide daily, weekly or monthly updates on developments in health.  We can set up tailored Knowledge Alerts to cut through information overload to deliver the latest information targeted to the specific needs of each health care professional. Sign up for evidence alerts

  • Information Consultancy
    The Library & Knowledge Service aims to support all aspects of health care policy, service development and commissioning by offering information consultancy that finds the best available evidence or aids the organisation and dissemination of knowledge.  Read about our consultancy work​
