Find a Journal

Browzine allows you to browse journals available to your organisation. Journals can be browed by topic or speciality, or you can search for a specific title to check for access. You can browse the contents pages of journals, and if your organisation has access, you can access the full-text via an NHS OpenAthens account. Where full-text access is not available for a specific issue or article, you can complete a request form to order a copy at no charge through the library.

Browzine is also available via the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub via the Browse Journals Button.  Click 'Choose my library' and search 'Rotherham' when you first access Browzine. To access full text of most journals, you will need to sign in with OpenAthens when prompted.

How do I access Browzine?

  1. Click on this link to open Browzine.
  2. Search for a journal title, subject area or browse the headings to find journals.
  3. Open one.  Anything in blue should allow access to full text (assuming you have an NHS Open Athens account – set one up here)
  4. If there’s an orange bar, the NHS may have only bought access up to or after a certain date – stated in the bar, and article will be grey & padlocked.
  5. You can also access Browzine once you have signed into the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub via the Browse Journals button in the top left hand corner (see example below)

To check whether your library service has access to a specific journal, you can use the Journals A-Z at the top left hand side of the Knowledge and Library Hub.  (Links for: Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust). Sign in with OpenAthens and then search for the journal title you are looking for, then follow a link to access the range of issues available.

Locating full-text journal articles on other websites

BrowZine offers a browser extension called LibKey Nomad, and this is available for Edge, Chrome and Firefox. Install the extension and select the organisation you work for.
Once installed, LibKey Nomad indicates if an article is available in full-text through your library. It works on many publisher websites, PubMed, and Wikipedia and adds links to access the full-text or PDF.

Set up one-click access to full-text:

Fed up with paywalls and logins?  Follow our four quick steps to set up one-click access to full-text articles as you search online.

What if I cannot access the journal I need?

  • A small number of older journals are only available in print. To search for print journals, use the library catalogue, and choose 'periodical title' as the search field.
  • If you need to access articles in journals that your library does not have access to, see the information under 'Find an article' . Library staff may be able to obtain individual articles for you from other NHS library services.
If you need help with any of these ways of accessing journals, please contact us.
